The book has the following statement pressed into the surface:
First they went after the homosexuals
but I did not speak out because I was not gay.
Then they went after the illegal immigrants
but I did not speak out because I was not an illegal immigrant.
Then they began to torture prisoners
but I did not speak out because I was not incarcerated.
Then they took away the Fourth Amendment
but I did not speak out because I was afraid my phone line was tapped.
Now they are taking away the First Amendment
and none of us can speak out.
